The Pleiades

The Pleiades are one of the star clusters known since ancient times, as at least 6 of its stars are visible to the naked eye in bad weather conditions (and the rest of the stars appear as dust behind these), but in ideal conditions away from light pollution, the number can increase to 12 And in 1579 AD (three decades before the invention of the telescope), astronomer Michael Maestlin drew 11 Pleiades stars in their proper places known today without the telescope.

The chandelier in the Arab heritage

The Arabs used to call the chandelier by its name because they used to be blessed in its sunrise and say that the rain that occurs during its sunrise or sunset brings wealth. The Pleiades were the third house of the houses of the moon (as the Arabs divided the areas in which the moon passes in the sky into 28 regions separated by equal distances, which they called the houses of the moon).

She used to distinguish 6 of her stars with the naked eye, and they likened her to a clustered grape, for its closeness, and as a result, they all called them "the star." And they named the star of Aldebaran after it, since it “turns around” (that is, follows it) during the apparent cycle of the celestial sphere, as it rises and sets after the Pleiades.

And the Arabs called the gap between the Thuraya and Aldebaran "the narrow", because - unlike the Thuraya - they were pessimistic about the sunrise of Aldebaran and groped with it, and they say that when it rains during the sunrise or sunset of Aldebaran, the Sunnah is barren.

together, our dreams will reach the Pleiades, and together we will enter Heaven
